8 months!

I cannot believe that my baby is 8 months old. He finally started sitting up the last week in July. I was surprised at quickly he bacame a pro at it. Especially with how large his noggin is. Tome calls him an orange on a toothpick.

And just a few days after he started sitting up he started pulling himself up on anything and everything. Wasn't quite ready for that one, but it's alot of fun to watch him. He hasn't quite figured out how to get out of a standing position so he just cries until he falls down.

My parents were planning on coming down the first week in August but on the 23rd of July my mom called and told me to look out the front door and they were there. My Mom's birthday is on the 26th and I was having an ultrasound on the 28th, so they decided to surprise us and come down sooner. It was so much fun to have them here! We went out to dinner for my Mom's birthday and she was able to come with Tome and I to the ultrasound.

The ultrasound tech said that so far everything looks good. I was only 15 weeks so it was a little early to see all of the body parts so I get to have another one in a couple of weeks. But she is about 95% sure that we're having another boy!

I was really hoping that this one would be a boy too, especially since they're going to be so close in age. This pregnancy has already been so different from my first pregnancy I was convinced it was a girl, but I was sure Owen was going to be a girl too.

Pregnant...again!

This was written the first week in June but I wanted to wait to publish it...

I never thought that I would have to take my 6 month old with me to OB appointments....a 2 or 3 year old sure...but a 6 month old??? Definitely not what we had planned. We wanted to wait at least a year before even thinking about when to get pregnant again...but I guess that wasn't what was supposed to happen. We we're shocked but super excited!

On Friday May 13th I decided to take what Tome and I refer to as "a stick". It was just a cheap store brand one and there was just barely a faint line to make it positive. I was sure it would be negative so I thought I was just seeing things. I woke Tome up and had him look at it but he wasn't quite sure either. I went to the store and got one of those fancy digital sticks....and it was positive. I called my mom. She laughed. I cried. Once the initial shock was over I was pretty excited...more than a little scared, nervous, freaking out...but there was some excitement in there.

When I told my dad I was pregnant with Owen I said "Guess what you're getting for Christmas..." So when I told him I was pregnant again it made it a little more fun to say the same thing.

I really wanted to go to the same doctor who delivered Owen but they don't take my insurance anymore. Total bummer.

we're mobile

He's been crawling for about a month now...and he is ALL over the place! I don't think I have ever been so exhausted. He has pretty much lost interest in all of his toys. He would much rather play with a diaper, an empty case of wipes, an old cell phone, the box that holds all of his toys, an empty soda bottle, any and all remotes, and his new favorite....dog toys. I'm pretty sure he knows that there are some things that he's not supposed to play with...like cords, outlets, shoes, the dog's food and water...but those are what he ALWAYS crawls to. I think he finds it hilarious to see how fast Mommy will run when he's about to tip over the dogs water or put dog food in his mouth...at least Mommy is getting some exercise.
He still eats like a champ and we have yet to find something that he doesn't like. He can finally hold his own bottle which has been amazing.
And the thing that I am most excited for is that we are FINALLY on a schedule! It was really hard to get a routine and schedule down when Tome was working nights, but now that Tome is working days I was amazed how easy it was to get Owen to wake up, take naps and go to bed around the same time everyday. He still wakes up at about 4-5 in the morning for a bottle, but he'll go back to sleep for about 3 hours.
And I think it's safe to say that we have outgrown the swing.

6 month check up

Owen had his 6 month check up today.
He weighed 17 lbs 1 oz -- the dr. said he's slimming down a little bit but he thinks that's probably a good thing for him since he was so big when he was born-- and he is 27 inches.
He did really good with his shots, he screamed for a bit but he stopped as soon as I picked him up. It was quite entertaining watching him take the oral vaccine. The MA would put a little in his mouth and he would look over at me, make a funny face, and then look back over to her and open his mouth for more.
He has another bottom tooth that's getting pretty close to poking through. I don't think he's a fan of this whole getting teeth thing.

My baby is growing up way too fast...

Over the course of about 3 or 4 days Owen grew up way more than I wanted him to.
He is completely on formula. And he had no problems with it at all. I thought maybe he might miss me holding him while he ate, but he really doesn't care who or where the food is coming from as long as he gets some.
He had his first tooth poke through.
He will hold his bottle by himself. Right after we noticed that his tooth poked through I was about to give him a bottle but he grabbed it from me and fed himself. I cried.
He is finally taking naps in his crib. He would always sleep in there at night but for some reason he wouldn't take naps in it. He would usually just nap in his swing. I never really forced him to nap in his crib but one day he decided that he likes sleeping there even when the sun is out.
He won't let me rock him to sleep anymore. This was the hardest one for me. I loved holding him till he fell sleep. I know it's not what the "experts" recommened but he's my first and I want to. But now he doesn't like it. He will squirm and get all fussy and then I lay him in his crib and he will fall right to sleep.
He loves to play on the floor and he will try to see how far he can roll before I pick him up and put him back on the blanket. He can get up on his hands and knees and he kind of rocks back and forth for a few seconds and then he flops over. If there is a toy he wants that he can't reach he will usually just roll till he eventually gets to it. But he is starting to kind of almost scoot. He won't use his arms though, he will just use his head and his legs and inch forward or backward. It's so much fun watching him try to figure it out.
I knew all of these things would happen soon anyway but I wasn't prepared for them to happen in the same week!

Owen had his first tooth come in today! I can't believe how big he is getting. It's not in enough to get a good picture of it but you can definitely feel it.
We're leaving tomorrow to go to my parent's for the weekend. It's going to be Owen's frist road trip and I'm pretty excited. It's amazing how much stuff someone so small needs for 4 days. This is one of many, many times when I wish we had an SUV. I pretty much think about how wonderful it would be to have an SUV everytime I have to put Owen in the car. His car seat is huge and it barely fits in the back of our civic.
Anyway, Owen is growing up way too fast!

4 months!

I can't believe that Owen is already 4 months old! I can't believe it's April! I have no idea what happened to March. Time is going by way to fast.

Owen had his 4 month check up on Monday and he is 15 lbs 12 oz (70th percentile) 26 in (85th) and 44 cm for his noggin (95th-ish). He chugged the vaccine he had to take orally like it was nothing and cried for for about 2 seconds after getting a shot in each leg.

Here's a couple videos. They were on my phone and I can't figure out how to rotate them. This one is from a couple weeks ago. He's quite talented.

And this one is from our second experience with rice cereal. He's squirmy. And likes to play with my phone. I was trying to get the spoon in his mouth and keep him from grabbing the phone so it's not the best video.

He loves to stand (his exersaucer thing is my new best friend)

He still eats likes a champ, even more so now that he's experienced the awesomeness that is rice cereal

He started rolling back to belly the first week in March and he finally started going from belly to back this past week

He usually wakes up once or twice during the night to eat and he'll fall right back asleep when he's done

He doesn't laugh as much as I though he would, he just kinda opens his mouth all wide when he gets excited

He makes some pretty interesting noises and has awesome facial expressions to match

I absolutely love being his mommy and I am so grateful that I am able to stay at home with him!
